As part of its support for the Aceh Provincial Government and three of its districts in their endeavours to address the stunting problem by improving key health and nutrition behaviors, UNICEF Indonesia requested Savica’s technical assistance to develop a Communication for Development (C4D) strategy and action plan.
Using Savica’s three main strengths: health communication, public health advisory and capacity building, this technical assistance was conducted in four consecutive phases:
• Document Review and Consultation with UNICEF and Partners,
• C4D Training and Strategy Development,
• Review and Finalization, and
• Final Workshop & Strategy Dissemination.
Health communication principles and theories formed the basis of this technical assistance, combined with sound analysis of the public health data and utilization of adult learning paradigms and experiential methods in the provision of trainings and workshops. Savica used a comprehensive management logic and framework to guide the stakeholders through the process, giving them not only the short-term steps but also a thorough understanding and long-term outlook of the program. This approach also emphasized the importance of verifying results through monitoring and evaluation activities throughout the program.
The process involved desk reviews, interviews and consultations, as well as multiple workshops at the district and province levels, and resulted in an extensive Strategy Document.
