Savica provided technical assistance to the Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) and UNICEF for the development of a one-year national communication strategy to create positive change in the attitudes of stakeholders towards children with disabilities and their rights. The strategy also promotes the benefits of quality inclusive education for all students, particularly children with disability and other marginalized children in ten targeted districts.
The project commenced in January 2019 and finished in December 2019. As part of the process, Savica visited two districts, Pasuruan and Bogor, to gather insights from the local government officials, education service providers (school supervisors, principals and teachers), parents, and students of elementary and middle schools through focus group discussion (FGD), in-depth interviews (IDI), and co-creation workshops using human-centered design approach. We developed five communication assets based on the insights we gathered from stakeholders, including organisations of people with disabilities. Then we trained UNICEF’s partners in the use of the communication strategy and assets, and monitored the implementation.
